We hope you plan on attending VAC’s Annual Meeting on Monday, January 15! In addition to taking care of customary club business, we are pleased to have Joanna Angell and Kim Keats from USC Beaufort as guest speakers. Both speakers are highly educated and experienced in the art world, and they will be sharing with us interesting information about the art program at USCB and what is available to all artists. Joanna Angell Joanna is a fourth-generation multidisciplinary artist and is an Associate Professor of Art in the Department of Studio Art at USCB where she teaches Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing and Design. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Drew University (Madison, NJ) and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia (Athens, GA). She continued graduate work in Ceramics at the University of South Carolina (Columbia). Before joining the faculty at USCB, Joanna was an independent studio artist and gallerist in Walterboro, exhibiting, marketing, and selling her work and selected works of other artists. Accepted to the “Approved Artists Roster” of the South Carolina Arts Commission, she served as a teaching Resident Artist in South Carolina schools and continues to teach workshops to adults and children. Her work is exhibited nationally in solo and juried group exhibitions and belongs to collections that include The President’s Collection of the University of Georgia and the South Carolina Palmetto Hands Collection. Joanna’s ceramics, paintings, and prints are in numerous private collections in the United States and abroad, and her work is represented in the Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center store.
